Virtus.pro are through to the grand final of Gfinity Spring Masters after moving past Natus Vincere 2-0 (19-17 on de_train and 25-22 on de_inferno).
The second match of Gfinity Masters Spring day three featured Na`Vi, who had finished at the top of their group, ahead of Swedish duo fnatic and Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Virtus.pro, who who had survived a three-way tie with Titan and EnVyUs in Group B.
Starting off on de_train, Virtus.pro were first to claim bragging rights as they picked up the first three rounds as Terrrorist following an outer rush in the pistol round. In the first gun round, Na`Vi found themselves without enough money to buy an AWP but they made up for that with an early push down the alley to get a one-man advantage that turned out to be invaluable.
Na`Vi went on to add the following five rounds to take a 6-3 lead, but then their winning streak came to an end following a well-timed push by Virtus.pro. A triple kill from Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev in the white halls then frustrated the Polish team and allowed Na`Vi to get back into the game. The Ukrainian side remained in the driving seat for the rest of the half, with the exception of the last round, when their overaggressive strategy backfired.
A 10-5 scoreline gave both teams something to work with going into the second half, with it was Na`Vi who took the initiative as they won the opening five rounds of the half to level the score. Rounds then went back and forth until the 27th round, when a 1vs2 clutch by Denis "seized" Kostin gave Na`Vi a one-round lead and left Virtus.pro's economy in shambles.
For a while it looked like Virtus.pro were going to lose this one, but an impressive eco round from the Poles restored parity on 14 rounds. The following round then went to Na`Vi, who fell short against a half-assed by Virtus.pro in the final round as the game went to overtime, in which Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's men sealed victory after playing out a perfect 3-0 half as CT.
NEO's eco at 13-14 on de_train saved the day
de_inferno was the map that followed, and once again Virtus.pro came out the brighter as they won the pistol round as CT after denying a B rush from Na`Vi. The Ukrainian-Slovakian-Russian mixture then came close to winning the first gun round but surprisingly spurned a 5vs2 situation, with pashaBiceps picking up four kills with the Famas in B.
After taking a 5-0 lead, Virtus.pro were then caught off-guard in the middle following two great entry kills by Edward, but the Poles responded in the following round to leave Na`Vi with no money to work with. It did not take long for them to call a timeout, but until the end of the first half they merely go two more rounds, the second of which thanks to a gorgeous 1vs2 clutch by GuardiaN in pit, as Virtus.pro enjoyed a 12-3 lead at the break.
Virtus.pro piled more misery on their opponents by winning the pistol round as Terrorists with ease, but then the Polish side were stunned in the first anti-eco round. After bringing the scoreline to 6-13, Na`Vi then dropped a round, but they kept their cool and quickly regained control of the proceedings. As the game wore on, Na`Vi became more and more confident, and they ultimately took the game to overtime.
After two dramatic overtimes that went back and forth, the second of which featuring a phenomenal ace by seized in B, Virtus.pro picked themselves up and sealed a 25-22 victory to advance to the grand final of the tournament, in which they will face fnatic in a best-of-five clash.
